Police housing at Bicheno has received a $327,000 makeover as part of a project to significantly improve housing for police officers in remote and country towns in Tasmania.
It follows the $750,000 renovation of three properties in the East Coast towns of Swansea, Orford and Triabunna late last year.
The Hodgman majority Liberal Government understands that providing quality housing in remote areas encourages police officers to apply for remote postings and become part of the communities they serve.
The renovations were made possible through our $7 million ongoing commitment to improve the standard of police accommodation across Tasmania.
The police residence at Bicheno was constructed in the 1970s with many original fittings still in place.
These renovations have completely updated the kitchen, bathrooms, electrical and plumbing and increased insulation throughout the house.
Tasmanian construction company MPH Builders Pty Ltd was awarded the contract for the Bicheno police housing renovation.
Tasmanians deserve to live in safety and free from the impact of crime. The Hodgman majority Liberal Government proudly supports and will continue to invest in our first-class police service as we deliver our plan to make Tasmania the safest state in the nation.
