Tasmania has a long and proud history of welcoming migrants from many countries, which is why we are proud to again support the annual Estia Greek Festival, which is now in its 27th year.
The Tasmanian majority Liberal Government has funded the Festival for many years and this year we have provided $13,000 through the Community Participation and Appeals Fund, and $3,000 through the Multicultural Grants Program.
The Festival continues to grow in popularity and typically attracts around 10,000 people looking to immerse themselves in Greek culture through food, dance, traditional costume and much more.
The event helps to build community relations through celebrating our State’s cultural heritage and identity while promoting multiculturalism and engaging all Tasmanians.
I offer my warmest congratulations to the Greek community and the volunteers who have made this amazing Festival what it is today.
